98.10.18 미국입양가족으로부터의 편지

안녕하세요?
요즈음 저는 메일링을 통하여 가슴이 아프기도 하고 또 반대로 싱그러워
지기도 합니다.
바로 미국에 입양된 우리 한국어린이들에 대한 이야기 때문입니다.
주로 그 본인들보다는 양부모나 그 가족들의 편지입니다.
저는 그 메일링에 한국의 바른 정보와 한국어에 관한 사이트를
영문으로 소개하는 [site-a-day about korea] 라는 칼럼을 매일 올리고
있습니다.
물론 가끔은 우리와 관련된 특별한 이슈를 선택하여 제 의견을 올리거나
한국어린이 기르기에 대한 궁금증을 호소하는 분들께 적절한 영문정보를
제공하고자 노력하고 있습니다.
물론 네이티브한 영문에는 영 자신이 안가지만 그들은 너그럽고 정성스레
제 정보를 받아 보고 있는 듯합니다.
너무 고맙게도 말입니다.
그들은 참으로 많은 감동을 주기도 합니다.

I deeply appreciate that you are taking time to send us all such good
information. I have visited all the websites you have told us about. We are
lucky to have you as a resource to help us.
I am Pat, and I am grandmother to two children adopted from Korea. Ethan
(Lee, Hyung Keun) came home to us in May of 1997. He is now almost two years
old. Elizabeth (Park, Jee Won) came to us in August of 1998. She is seven
months old. They are the most wonderful babies in the world. I will always be
grateful to their biological parents for their desire to share their babies
with someone who might give them a better life than they could at the time.
We try to keep Korea in the hearts of our babies, and will continue to do so.
We love your country very much, and feel you are very much a part of us and
our family, which is now a Korean-American family. :-)
Thank you for your kindness to those of us on this list. You are very
appreciated.
